Say “Yes!”

Life is about learning and growing. That’s the beauty of it. When you think you know enough, you come to learn new things. Even the seemingly small, insignificant things can impact you.

Recently, I learned the power of saying “yes.” It’s important to acknowledge the power of saying “no,” too, but today, I’m going to focus on what I have personally gained from saying “yes.” I learned to take a leap of faith, to take a chance with the opportunities that I am given. After all, we only get one shot at this game called life, so it’s what you choose to make of it. You can choose to stay stagnant in your life, being average, “good enough,” satisfied. Or, you can choose to challenge yourself, do something you’re not used to, take the offer, submit that application.

I have been saying “yes” to a lot more opportunities, and it has opened many doors for me. Not only has it impacted my educational and career life, but it has also served me socially as well. I say “yes” to hanging out later at night. I say “yes” to spontaneous trips. I say “yes” to living in the moment. These “yes’s” have created memories for me, unforgettable ones with family and friends.

So if there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it is to say “yes” and take a chance. To seize each opportunity because life is too short. Say “yes” and live in the moment. You might or might not regret it, but you’ll never know if you never say “yes.”
