Review: “After We Collided”

Midterms were coming up shortly and I was getting antsy and uncomfortable while studying day and night.  During one of my Midterm Movie Nights, I was super excited to start the second movie of the After series, an American romantic drama film based on the adult fiction novels written by Anna Todd.  Todd’s book series has 5 books in total, but only two films have been made so far.

But to back it up a bit for context, the first movie in the series, also titled After, was amazing and is definitely one of my favorite films. It follows two main characters, Tessa and Hardin, who meet when Tessa arrives at college. While Tessa tries to be a dedicated loyal girlfriend to her high school sweetheart, a mysterious and rebellious student, Hardin, seems to test the waters and push Tessa to her limits.

I thought the first movie was full of passion and heartache, but the recently released second film in the series, After We Collided, blew me away.  It really embodies the idea of a toxic love between Tessa and Hardin, but also has a hilarious rom-com theme to it as they find their way back to each other after their breakup in the first movie (but I won’t spoil the whole movie for you).

Midterm Movie Nights have been keeping me sane during our current situations and the test taking along with remote learning. After We Collided is a great stress reliever and distraction from your long to-do list for the day.
