From festive fireworks to favorite foods, the Fourth of July is the epitome of summer celebrations. As a day of soaking up the sun turns into a night of fireworks and singing, it is important to be prepared for the possibilities of the holiday.

As a general rule, the best way to dress up for the holiday is dressy-casual with layers and sticking to the color scheme of red, white, and blue. Personally, I think also adding gold or silver accents, such as jewelry or a makeup look, to a Fourth of July outfit can help you stand out and make a statement. However, each outfit must be coordinated with the type of celebration that you are going to.

For instance, for pool parties, I would suggest a blue or red swimsuit, a white shirt, denim shorts, white tennis shoes, and a red flannel jacket for when the night starts to become chilly. A great outfit for beach parties would be a red or blue swimsuit, a dressier cover up, flip flops, and a shawl or blanket for the later part of the day. For backyard barbecues, a patriotic outfit idea would be ripped denim shorts, a red or white top, and a jacket. Also, for any type of party, bright red lipstick is an easy way to look festive and Instagram-ready!

In addition, it is very important to maintain a self-care routine every time you go out into the sun! For instance, always remember to use an oil-free sunscreen moisturizer as a base before applying makeup and continually apply sunscreen throughout the day to prevent sunburn. Also, sunglasses double as eye protection and a trendy fashion essential for the summer. Lastly, if you plan on spending copious amounts of time in the sun and have hair that can be prone to damage, then consider trying out some form of heat protectant or hair mask before the festivities begin.
