After a thrilling MLB regular season came an even more enthralling postseason, seeing teams who had flown under the radar in the previous year triumph and essentially disprove all betting odds. To cap it all off, the World Series (October 23-28) had to be just as wowing, and it was.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers met the Boston Red Sox in Boston for the first two games, the outcome of the rest of the tournament seemed clear. The Red Sox won the first game decisively 8-4, setting the tone for the games to come. The second game ended on a slightly more even note, with the Red Sox winning 4-2. However, the loss of the home field advantage for the third and fourth games seemed to have quite an effect on both teams; the Dodgers became revived and gained new energy away from the chill of Boston and played 18 full innings to beat out the Red Sox in the third game 3-2.

Although this gave Dodgers fans hope for more fair weather, the Red Sox regained their footing in Los Angeles, beating the Dodgers 9-6 in the fourth game and ultimately winning the series although the fifth game was yet to be played. Returning to Boston for the final game, both teams played hard despite the outcome of the tournament already having been decided, with the newly revived Red Sox coming out strong to win 5-1.

Despite the scores’ reflection on the 2018 World Series, the Boston Red Sox as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers had passion and energy that made every game, regardless of score, riveting.
