Native American Contributions to Modern Culture

As it’s Native American Heritage Month, I wanted to share a little bit about the contributions that Native Americans have made in modern culture.

HISTORY states that corn, a staple of food itself and an ingredient in many meals, was grown by Native Americans through the method of raised-bed agriculture, which is commonly used today for vegetable production. They also invented medical tools and products such as syringes, mouthwash, and oral contraceptives. These items were initially made with all-natural materials such as plants, seeds, and animal bones, and were modernized for widespread use as society evolved.

It’s easy to overlook the origin of something when you are so used to using it, but once you take a closer look, it’s fascinating. It’s amazing how these things that Native Americans once created are now integral parts of our lives and modern culture
