Minimal Makeup Trends are All the Rage this Summer

Makeup trends are constantly changing and evolving. This summer, I’ve been noticing a lot of simple, yet abstract makeup designs all over social media reminiscent of the HBO show, Euphoria’s game changing makeup style. I think it’s safe to say that the world of fashion and beauty was never the same after Euphoria came out in 2019, and as a result, social media, namely Instagram and Tiktok, followed its influential lead. Courtesy of the show, we’ve learned that makeup doesn’t have to be so complicated. Rather than enduring an endless step-by-step makeup procedure, all you really need this summer is some bright colors, glitter, and eyeliner. These fresh and flawless looks are kept rather simple with minimal designs that are meant to highlight certain points of the face.

Try unique eyeliner shapes like pointed lines, squiggles, and clouds. It’s all about where you place the shapes. What part of your face do you want to highlight?

Use metallic eyeliner, either on its own or as an addition to the rest of your look.

Glitter is your best friend. Adding a touch of glitter can always lift up a look, but sometimes a lone swipe of it on your eyelid can steal the show.

Consider going heavy with color on either your eyes or your lips, but not both. If you want to draw attention to your eyes, for instance, subdue your lips by applying a light iridescent gloss.

For some seriously rosy cheeks, place a more pigmented blush on the apples of your cheeks and over your nose. Topping it with a dash of highlighter will give you a flushed, yet dewy finish. Blush is always a must, so don’t skip out on it!

Wear colored mascara. Different colored mascaras may bring out the color of your eyes. It may be a little out there, but it’s certainly an interesting choice and super easy to do. You don’t even need anything else if you decide to go with this.

Some of these looks maybe a bit out there, but they’re creative ways to step outside of your comfort zone and great for getting ideas!
