Mindfulness

The hustle and bustle of daily life can really take a toll on your well being. Between juggling classes, work, and other activities, it can be difficult to just sit and relax. But the practice of being mindful and caring for yourself is absolutely vital in the long run. Here are some simple ways I like to practice mindfulness.

1. Journaling

The best part about this exercise is that you have the freedom to express your thoughts in whichever way works best for you. Whether it’s writing a one-liner or composing a five page story, you have total freedom over the words on those pages.

2. Staying off your phone

Whether you’re alone or with friends, it makes all the difference to keep off your phone. This simple lifestyle change allows you to be present and better enjoy the people around you.

3. Take a walk

Being active is vital in order to be physically and mentally healthy. Even if your schedule seems packed, reserve 15 minutes in your day to simply walking around the block. Your mind and body will thank you later.

Taking care of yourself can be a natural lifestyle change, if you make the effort. Making these attempts to be mindful and taking care of yourself will make you much happier in the long run–trust me, I know.
