Looking Forward to 2021

It is no secret that 2020 has been a difficult year, for a number of reasons. The biggest is, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic, as it has forced many of us to rethink how we live our lives. We are now nine months into it, and though there is hope with the news of vaccines, this will not be ending anytime soon. Instead of lamenting the fact, I am choosing to look on the bright side and think about my hopes for 2021.

I hope to be more productive next year. Now that I am, unfortunately, accustomed to life in this pandemic, I have a better idea of when I can be productive and when it is time to take a break and allow myself to rest. I started this pandemic being too optimistic about what I would be able to accomplish with my new free time, and when that was not the reality, it messed with my head and lowered my productivity even more. Knowing that now, I am setting more realistic goals for myself, and most importantly, I am acknowledging the truth that there will be times where I just need to take a day to care for myself and do nothing.

No one can be productive 24/7, no matter how hard they try. We all need breaks and self-love, now more than ever. If you are like me and are hoping to start off 2021 strong, I applaud you! Just remember that things may not go as planned, and go easy on yourself. We are all doing the best we can, which is all that matters.
