Little Ways to Give Thanks

It’s November, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. As it says in its name, this holiday calls for giving thanks–appreciating those around you and other aspects of your life. I personally like showing my appreciation to those I care for or appreciate greatly, whether they’re my family, teachers, friends or others. I really encourage everyone to do the same; giving thanks to someone can make their day, week, or month, and it’s the perfect time to do so.

Showing your appreciation doesn’t have to involve money. A simple hand-made card can be just as thoughtful – or even more so – than a gift. You can thank someone for their help, support, love, friendship, or for just being themselves. Another idea is to get someone’s favorite snack, candy, coffee order, or other small things such as this. Just having someone think about them and their favorite food (or anything, really) is another great way that truly shows your appreciation for them.

Lastly, if they’re someone you’re close to, you can give a framed photo of the both of you. You can even do it for a whole friend group. Photos are great reminders of good memories and relationships, and every time they look at it, they’ll be reminded of how much you appreciate them.

Even though these things are small and may seem insignificant, any amount of thanks being given is a great gift. People will appreciate it, and I promise it will make you feel great when you see their reaction to your token of thanks.
