Light Up Your 4th of July

Summer is filled with exciting activities, like hanging out with friends, going on vacation, and everyone’s favorite: the 4th of July! The Independence Day holiday is a time to relax and celebrate; people regularly plan barbecues, parties, attend sales, and go see the fireworks at the end of the day, all while wearing red, white, and blue.

The annual fireworks display is such a staple in American culture that nearly every city, neighborhood, and institution has their own, and everyone is welcome to sit and enjoy the colorful display that lights up the sky. This summer, I plan to hang out with my friends and family at a party at my house, and then go to my neighborhood’s fireworks show in the evening. I’m super excited to not only hang out with the people I love, but also be able to experience July 4th culture in the form of festive foods and red, white, and blue everything!

My favorite July 4th foods are cupcakes and cookies, which can so easily be made festive by using red, white, and blue icing. By simply dying your icing red and blue using food coloring, you can frost your cupcakes and ice your cookies with extra July 4th spirit. Get a few friends together and bake away!
