Keeping Cool With Summer TV Shows

When the heat of the summer makes everyone feel sluggish, the best way to stay out of the sun is with a bowl of ice cream and a television show marathon. Personally, I prefer to leave the dramas and action shows to the winter and watch lighter, more comedic shows in the summer.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a cop comedy with a focus on hilarious jokes and meaningful storylines. The lovable characters easily capture viewers’ hearts, building a fanbase so passionate that the show was picked up by NBC one day after being cancelled by Fox. Starring Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, an extremely talented and extremely goofy detective, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the perfect show for anyone to watch. With an emphasis on representation and diversity, in both characters and storylines, this show simultaneously cracks hilarious jokes, battles racism and sexism in the workforce, highlights the importance of healthy relationships, and still has space for exciting plot twists involving different types of crimes as well as each character’s personal life.
