Juicing and Salads

Over quarantine, I discovered many simple ways to eat healthily. The first thing I started to do was juicing. Juicing is an easy way to get your nutrients in without having to worry about eating fruits and vegetables. Currently, I make two juices a day: one with beets and carrots and one with greens, such as spinach and kale. I put them in a thermos and drink them throughout the day. To add more flavor, you can also put some lemon to your juice.

Another healthy eating tip I learned is to start your meal with a salad. I usually do this before dinner. Regardless of what the meal is, eating a salad beforehand will allow you to get your vegetables in. It also makes me feel healthier and cleansed. The part I love the most about salads is that they can contain any ingredients you want. My current favorite salad has lettuce, spinach, walnuts, cranberries, blue cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I love to search up different, unique salads to try as it makes eating healthy more enjoyable.

With eating healthy, it is important to always remember balance. It is okay to eat any food you like, whether or not it is healthy. However, like anything, it is important to have it in moderation. For instance, to satisfy my sweet tooth, I like to eat a small piece of dark chocolate every day. You shouldn’t restrict yourself from any foods since this can lead to binge-eating later on. Instead, have a mix of different foods throughout the day, so you don’t end up feeling like you are stopping yourself from eating the foods you enjoy.
