Review: iZombie

Zombies. Crime fighting. Humor. Perfectly sculptured characters. What’s not to like about the TV show iZombie? iZombie is a show on CW, but it also streamed on different platforms including Netflix (because who are we kidding, how many of us actually watch a real television anymore?). iZombie is an adaption of the comics by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred and has been renewed for its fifth season.

The story revolves around main character Olivia “Liv” Moore who, on the first episode, is attacked on a boat party due to an outbreak of a drug that turns humans into zombies. Liv’s life is suddenly turned upside down, her engagement and journey to be a doctor put on halt. She works as a coroner’s assistant ultimately gaining access to the deceased brains in the morgue and it gives her the ability to absolve the recently deceased persona and has visions of their final moments in life. With this ability, Liv teams up with officer Clive Babineaux to solve murders.

Every episode is entertaining because you never know what persona Liv is going to take on. Besides the show’s crime stopping element, other storylines are brought up. Think Criminal Minds meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Whether it’s the expansion of the zombie population, new villains and world problems, the iZombie writers are amazing at keeping the storyline intact.

With other characters in the show including Liv’s ex fiancee Major, officer partner Clive, the criminal Blaine (who oddly resembles the character Spike from the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ravi the British medical examiner and best friend Peyton, the show wouldn’t be the same without them.

If you like a show filled with science fiction, love, humor, friendships, mystery, action and zombies, I definitely recommend iZombie.
