Important Lessons I’ve Learned Throughout My Life

With every roadblock I’ve hit and every struggle that I’ve overcome, I’ve learned a lot of lessons throughout my life. No matter how big or small, each lesson I’ve come across has positively impacted my life . . . even when I wasn’t grateful or understood the reason for the lesson at the time. I’m a big believer that there’s always room to be better people, grow, and heal from the things that we need to. I think there are a lot of lessons that come out of our experiences, no matter how painful or extraordinary they are. Even though constantly learning one life lesson after another can get tiring, I’ve found that a lot of the lessons I’ve learned help me go through the motions of life a bit easier now. Something that helps me remember these lessons are “life-lesson quotes,” so here are a few that I live by if you’re in need of some:

1. “You can’t heal in the same environment that made you sick.”

This quote personally means a lot to me because of how much I can resonate with it. Sometimes you need to leave toxic situations in order to find peace of mind, and that’s okay.

2. “Never make anyone feel small, including yourself.”

This is the type of life-lesson quote that you should keep in mind every day. As easy as it is to put ourselves down and belittle ourselves, this quote is a good reminder to treat yourself the same way that you treat others.

3. “Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find you’re here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences.”

Acceptance plays a big part in healing and moving forward, which is why I love this quote. I find it easy to get lost in my emotions, but thinking logically and accepting my problems, and then taking the necessary steps to move forward has completely changed my life.
