How to Start Using Less Single-Use Plastic

Sustainability and how to start living a more sustainable life has become a prominent topic over the past few years. As more and more scientists report their research about how humans have been negatively impacting the environment, many environmental activists have become more cautious in their lifestyles. In this article, I will be explaining the ways in which I am doing my part to live a more sustainable life by using less plastic. Using less plastic may seem like a big deal, but it really doesn’t take much to change this small part of your lifestyle.

1. Reusable Water Bottles.

Make the switch from plastic water bottles to reusable water bottles. Reusable water bottles such as Hydroflasks not only end up saving money in the long term, but also eliminate the use for water bottles that will be thrown away after a single use.

2. Metal or Paper Straws.

Buying metal or paper straws to use at home and when you’re out ordering drinks gets rid of the commercial need for large amounts of plastic straws, thus challenging the cycle of supply and demand. Restaurants, fast food places, and stores will then stock less plastic straws due to the fact that there are less people purchasing them.

3. Reusable Grocery Bags.

Tote bags are not only sustainable, but they are cute and trendy right now as well. Purchasing a tote bag for your grocery store trips will not only take the place of plastic bags, but will make you look like a stylish shopper too.

Plastic is everywhere, but if you care about the environment and are willing to embrace change, one small step can make a big difference in the world!
