In light of recent events, I have become aware of how important it is to support Black-owned businesses. Not too long ago I was quite unexposed and did not have the slightest insight on how important each purchase from a Black-owned business was: aiding in both closing the racial wealth gap and strengthening local economies. After becoming more exposed and educated on the impact that each purchase had on bigger picture issues such as the ones I mentioned, I took straight to Google with hopes of finding both local and regional Black-owned businesses that I could support. It was then that I found the incredible resource called Official Black Wall Street.
The Official Black Wall Street website is the perfect platform for all types of shoppers to find exactly what they’re looking for while ensuring that it is from a Black-owned business! This is such an incredible resource for so many reasons, and is presented alongside a very user friendly interface. When you click the website tab, ‘Business Directory’, it allows for you to search by both category and location. Not only is it a very useful website, but the creators have taken it one step further to enhance the accessibility and developed an app. This platform, available on Android and Apple products, serves to enhance the consumer’s ability to identify and shop from Black-owned businesses, and also works with these businesses behind the scenes to promote them as well. As a consumer, the app offers special deals and other perks, so there really is no reason that you shouldn’t download this free app today and start taking part in working to better the world around you!
