Helping the Environment Through Thrifting

We might not always realize all the different ways we can help our planet, but sure enough, there are numerous amounts of things we can do to help ourselves and others. Specifically, thrifting is a sustainable and ethical way of increasing the size of your wardrobe and recycling clothes.

While I do know many people who choose to stay away from thrifting, I see it as a fun activity to do with friends, family, or even yourself. You never know what you might find in any thrift store, and Goodwill is the perfect place to start. Because a lot of clothes go to waste and end up in landfills, polluting our planet, it’s important to remember to buy items with a purpose. If you have bought clothes that you unfortunately don’t wear often, then it is important to donate them to warehouses such as Goodwill or other thrift stores along with giving them away to family and friends.

In addition to contributing to ethical shopping, thrifting also means you might find fantastic items at a very cheap cost. If you are a fan of clothes from different periods, I’d highly suggest giving it a try as many people will donate clothing and accessories from the 80s, 90s, etcetera.

I hope that this article has encouraged you to give thrifting a chance. I always say go with a friend and with a lot of energy, since looking through all those racks can be hard work!
