The first full week of October is officially over, and the weather is finally cooling down a bit, so it actually feels kind of like fall! With the pandemic going on this year, we’re definitely more limited in how we can spend our autumn days, but there are still some wonderful activities that we can take part in while staying safe and socially distanced! Read on to see how you can still have fun this fall!

  1. Take a drive out of the city to see the beautiful fall foliage. This is one of the easiest ways to experience fall while social distancing. No matter where you live, there are so many different locations to drive through to experience the bright expanse of colored leaves from the comfort of your own vehicle. If you’re planning to take a longer drive, you can also pack a blanket and some snacks for little picnics along the way!
  2. Go apple picking. This is a fun way to spend some time outdoors, while still staying at least six feet away from other people. There’s nothing quite like the sweet scent of fresh apples, and many of the apple farms also offer fresh-pressed ciders and baked sugary confections. Most ranches require you to schedule an appointment ahead of time due to the pandemic, so be sure to do your research beforehand!
  3. Visit a pumpkin patch. This is one of the most popular fall activities ever, and like apple picking, a trip to the pumpkin patch allows you to spend a day outdoors, while safely practicing social distancing. There are a variety of pumpkin patches, from small local farms to bigger venues that feature pumpkin picking, tractor rides, and even petting zoos, so our options for outdoor activities are endless!
  4. Enjoy an outdoor movie. We may not be able to go to the theaters just yet, but there are plenty of drive-in and outdoor options that are perfect for spooky season. Make it a fun night with some picnic food and blankets as you enjoy films with your favorite people under the stars.
