With the distribution of vaccines bringing hope to this pandemic-burdened world, it is important to remember that we are not out of the woods yet. Even if you are fully vaccinated, you should not resume life pre-pandemic; it is still a dangerous and stressful world out there. It is vital that we continue to wear masks, social distance, and stay home whenever possible. If you live with family, friends, significant others, or roommates, that can get a little tense and anger-inducing at being in such close quarters 24/7. Here are some ideas to occupy your time in-house and get along with your housemates.

  1. Clean/organize your cupboards. It might not feel like a glamorous, enjoyable activity, but I guarantee the rewards outweigh the cost. Gather your household and take some time to go through your cabinets, agree and get rid of what you don’t need, and reorganize what you do. That way, everything will be in its proper place and, hopefully, future arguments will be avoided. To make it more appealing, listen to music while you do and treat yourself to a favorite meal, game, or movie afterward!
  2. Have a good old-fashioned board game night. With so many streaming services and video games available nowadays, sometimes we forget about the classic board games we used to love. Take a night and pull out those childhood games, like Battleship, The Game of Life, or Clue. If you’re really ambitious, whip out that Monopoly board!
  3. Follow an online tutorial! You could do makeup, painting, hair styling, and all sorts of things. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to try, now is your chance to do so! There are a million and one tutorials available on YouTube and other platforms, so find one that interests you and your friends and go for it!

You might be exhausted after a year of this pandemic, but it will get better eventually. As long as enough of us get vaccinated and we continue following safety procedures, there is a good chance that this will be over by the end of the year. In the meantime, don’t give up. Find new ways to entertain yourself while spending time with the people around you. I hope this article gave you some inspiration.
