Fewer Headache Hassles

We all know headaches are awful. Some kinds are worse than others, but they’re all terrible and impede our ability to do anything, sometimes to the point where we can’t do anything at all. Painkillers are great (when used as directed), but sometimes they’re not enough. Here are some tricks I’ve learned to help with painkillers, mostly geared towards migraines and sinus headaches (both of which I suffer from fairly often).

One of the most effective things I’ve found is oils, particularly one called white flower oil. White flower oil is actually a mixture of camphor, menthol, eucalyptus, wintergreen, lavender, and peppermint oils, which of course are great on their own, but when mixed together, become really potent, which is great for easing a headache. I just put some under my nose (or almost inside my nostrils if I’m really desperate), and inhale deeply. If it’s a sinus headache, you can actually feel things opening up upon using it, but it’s beneficial for all kinds of headaches.

The next is pressure points. You can find a chart online easily of which points to use, but there some I find more effective than others. One is on your eyebrows, towards the center of your face; just push down or rub them (this spot does hurt a bit to use, but it gives great relief). The other most effective pressure point I find is on either side of the bridge of your nose, right where the bone ends and the cartilage branches off on its own, where you press and rub on either side of the bridge of your nose. The last one I find best is on your jaw, at the corners of it where it curves. Do the same thing—press and rub—which is done best with your thumbs.

Headaches can make it impossible to accomplish anything, sometimes even for days. Even if you can’t make the pain go entirely away, just easing it can be an enormous relief, but hopefully these methods I’ve given will completely erase them!
