Don’t Mask Your Fashion Sense

As we head into the month of August, the United States has now been experiencing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for about 7 months. Needless to say, it should be common knowledge that the use of a mask every time you leave your house or interact with someone outside of your direct living situation is imperative in slowing the spread. I personally stuck with the medical grade masks for the first couple of months, but once it became a standard article in my everyday wardrobe, I decided to fully embrace it and make the most of the new look. When I overheard that large brands like Nordstrom and Macy’s were having their personal shoppers style masks with every new outfit, I began looking for a way to use this new ‘accessory’ to my advantage. If you are looking for a way to do the same, I implore you to use your online or retail resources to find the best fit and purchase reusable masks that double as guards fighting the spread of the virus.

One of the companies I discovered that is using their platform to slow the spread as well as contribute to a greater purpose is called Everlane. This company is working to bring people together to support the fight for human rights; for every 5-pack sold at $25, they are donating 10% of the sales to the ACLU. To date, they have donated over $600K through this program. Additionally, the range of single colored tie-dye masks in this pack are gender neutral allowing you to buy the pack and share with those around you. They are washable and 100% cotton, so once you invest in this company you will be set for a long time!

Wearing a mask should not be an inconvenience, but rather seen as your way of doing your part in order to help your community stay safe and healthy. Use this time in life to your advantage and employ the mask as a way to express yourself and your style, because ultimately, we all need to think about the bigger picture and how one small action can make a big change.
