Dogs in Quarantine

Dogs have been affected due to the pandemic, just like humans have. Dogs used to interacting with others or constantly being outside or at the park are now stuck spending their days indoors. Their owners are home with them, but with our busy schedules—attending school and working from home—we can’t spend time with them. On the bright side, there are many easy and delightful activities to keep dogs busy during the day.

After doing some research, I realized that there are many creative ideas people have to keep their dogs entertained. One idea is to make a box puzzle. With all the online shopping everyone has been doing since quarantine started, many people have empty boxes just lying around at home. A simple idea is to arrange the boxes into a maze and place a few treats in some of the boxes. Your dog will have a fun time navigating through the boxes to find the ones with a treat. You can always rearrange the boxes in whatever way you would like for your dog to enjoy.

Another idea is to play short games like tug-a-war with your dog. It only takes a few minutes out of your day, and it shows your dog that you care and like spending time with them. You can also teach your dog tricks. Numerous videos on YouTube explain how to teach your dog basic tricks. Some people have even trained their dogs to help them out with their chores!
