I think it is safe to say that we have all been going through a rough time in life, one that is unprecedented in a number of ways, and unfortunately it’s been much easier to focus on the bad than the good. Everyday there seems to be another negative event that just continues to send the population into a collective downward spiral, feeling like we just can’t catch a break. Recently, however, someone shared a perspective with me that flipped my mindset for the better, and I hope sharing it today will do the same for you.
When we are constantly surrounded with scenarios that are bringing us down, it becomes our normal to focus on the bad rather than the good. This repetitive practice builds a sort of magnifying glass effect on the struggles and hardships, filling our thoughts and conversations with disheartening emotions. But instead of getting trapped in that contagious mindset, choose to use your energy praising yourself and the people around you for all the good that you see. When your focus switches to acknowledging and praising the actions and experiences that you love about your life, your energy will be completely different as your thoughts and emotions will follow suit, and start to think in a more positive light as well. To put it simply, if you notice yourself feeling tired of all of the commotion and hurt this world is going through, first take some time to fully feel those emotions, and then take action to praise the good around you and within you. By doing so, we can appreciate our wins while bringing out the best in the people around us and ultimately the way in which we experience life, and the positivity in our actions will be multiplied.
