Celebrating Independence Day!

July 4th is regarded as one of the most important holidays on the American calendar, as it celebrates the day colonies gained independence. Naturally, it has resounding significance in American culture, one that carries to this day. There are a variety of ways in which people choose to celebrate, such as visiting historical sites, engaging in state wide celebrations, or enjoying hot dogs and burgers whilst watching fireworks along the New York skyline, which boasts the biggest firework display on July 4th.

Although I am not an American citizen, it has become a family tradition to host a gathering with friends and family on this special occasion. To take the burden off the host, all attendees bring a special dish to the table, and we spend the night eating, drinking, and enjoying each others company. There are no firework displays around where I live due to safety concerns, but most families have found alternative ways to honour independence day!
