Boy Meets World

I have recently been watching the 90s TV show, Boy Meets World, and I am pleasantly surprised with how engaging the show is. The show centers around a boy, Cory Matthews, his brother, Eric, and his two best friends, Shawn and Topanga. Since BMW ran for seven seasons, the audience can see the characters grow from graduating elementary school to graduating college. Seeing their journeys and how they have grown over the seasons is very heartwarming. It is also special to see Cory and Topanga fall in love at a young age and to watch their relationship develop and mature as the seasons continue.

Another reason why I love BMW is because of the difficult topics the show covers. Although it is a TV show targeted towards teenagers, the show still discusses topics such as alcoholism, absent parents, and death. Cory’s best friend, Shawn, has to deal with his parents leaving him along with the alcoholism in his family. Seeing how he deals with it and has to rely on the support of his friends made me realize how many things I have in my life that I should be grateful for. The show also resonated with me as it shows the struggles with transitioning from high school to college, which is something that I am currently experiencing. BMW ends with the characters going their separate directions: a few get married, some get jobs, and some decide to travel to different places.

A few years ago, Disney Channel decided to make a spin-off series called Girl Meets World. GMW focuses on Cory and Topanga’s children and their journeys. Although I have not yet seen that show, I am excited to watch it and see how the BMW characters are doing as adults. I would recommend everyone to watch Boy Meets World to see these amazing characters and their stories!
