Boost Your Mood and Motivation

We all have days where we feel more down than others, and it’s okay to feel that way. It is more important that during those times, we listen to our minds and our bodies and take it easy for a little bit.

When I am feeling a little down, it’s hard for me to focus on anything. I feel like I have a hundred thoughts racing in my head and it can get overwhelming. So, I like to write things down either in my journal or in my phone’s notes app. This helps to calm me down, organize everything, and deal with how I’m feeling. From there, I make a small to-do list for the day to keep myself productive, and I like to have a mix of both tasks and relaxing activities on there. I’ll write down things like cleaning the house, watering my plants in my yard, or doing my nails and taking a bath.

I also find that paying attention to the little details that make you happy, from making yourself a cup of coffee to color coding your to-do list with different pens, causes a big difference in how you feel. Recognizing what boosts your mood and taking things slowly by taking breaks here and there helps ease your mind and keep your motivation going. We tend to lose motivation when we put too much on our plates or are too idealistic with our goals and to-do lists. Simply breaking down tasks into smaller pieces, turning on some music, and making yourself as comfortable as you can is a great way to stay motivated throughout each day.
