Best Ways to Stay Motivated

During the pandemic, most of our motivation suffered. We got used to fewer responsibilities as our main tasks were to stay healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. Now, the new school year has begun, and once again, we’re met with many deadlines. However, there are several ways to ensure that we stay motivated.

First, I think one of the best ways to stay motivated is to stay organized. An organized space leads to an organized mind, which allows for you to stay calm and collected while getting things done. It can be easy to procrastinate and let assignments accumulate, so creating to-do lists makes it easy to stay focused. You can create simple daily lists or more detailed checklists of everything you want to get done during the day. Therefore, every hour is mapped out, and you can give yourself a couple of hours in the day to relax, preventing procrastination and distractions. This ties into giving yourself rewards (ex. reserving time to go get a dessert after finishing a long essay) in between tasks.

Another great way to stay motivated is to work with classmates or have friends/family hold you accountable. Most of us are less efficient without deadlines. Thus, creating due dates for yourself can become a great way to accomplish all your goals in a timely manner.

Balancing school, work, and life can be hard and stressful, and we all need our downtime as well, so it’s important to find that stability to make sure that we not only come out on top, but are happy as well. I hope this article was a helpful reminder for you as we start another school year.
