Best Transitional Pieces to Take Your Outfits from Summer to Fall

We’re well on our way into the middle of August, and that can only mean one thing—the imminent arrival of fall! As the nights get longer and the days get cooler, it’s time to start thinking about transitioning our wardrobes to fit in more with the weather conditions around us. Switching from summer to fall doesn’t have to be complicated or head-inducing, as long as you know which pieces to focus on during this transition between the seasons. Read on to see what my top picks are.

1. Midi Dress

There’s nothing classier than a midi dress, even if I have to say so myself. The longer length lends an air of sophistication to the whole ensemble, and it’s also the perfect way to still embody summer while paving the way for chillier autumn nights.

2. Knit Skirt

Knit skirts are another favorite of mine. Since it may start to get a little cooler, super short skirts just might not be the most functional option once September rolls around. Instead, try opting for a knit skirt. They’re very chic and classy—plus, they look amazing when paired with a sweater or cardigan, making it perfect as we transition from summer to fall.

3. Leather Shorts

If shorts are a must-have in your wardrobe, I suggest swapping out the good old denim for leather instead. There’s just something about leather that seems edgier and darker, making it perfect for the fall, without sacrificing comfort, since leather can trap in heat, which is bad if you live in an area that is still relatively warm, even as fall begins.

4. Jumpsuit

Of course, a good jumpsuit can’t be left off the list. The best thing about jumpsuits is their versatility—they can look good on any given day. If it’s hotter where you live, you can wear your jumpsuit on its own, but if you’re living in a cooler place, you can always layer a cardigan or knit sweater on top of it, to give it a cozier vibe.
