Being a Student Has Its Perks!

For most of us, it is back-to-school season! Whether you are going to high school or college, going back into the routine of school can be tough sometimes, especially with the costs of supplies, textbooks, and, for some, furniture. Something that I realize is greatly helping me get back into my routine and get a head-start is student discounts. Whether it be discounts on streaming services, supplies, or even food, student discounts help greatly!

With the chaotic schedule of classes, it’s important to take time to wind down and relax. If you like some sort of entertainment to help you with that, then you’re in luck! Streaming services such as Paramount+, Hulu, and Apple TV+ offer amazingly low prices for students! These prices range from as low as $1.99 a month and can definitely help you and your wallet! All you have to do is make an account with an active student email, and you’re qualified! If you already have an account in any of these streaming services and don’t want to lose it (which totally makes sense), all you have to do is change the email it is under from your personal or work one to your student email, and you’re in!

Personally, I  listen to a lot of music, whether it be to help me study, take notes, or even help me get a good night’s sleep. It wasn’t that long ago when I noticed some of our favorite music streaming services also have student discounts that help greatly! Spotify and Hulu actually have a partnered discount for students, which means that if you have your Hulu and Spotify account under the same active school email, you can get them both for only $4.99 a month! Another one that I see some of my friends use is Apple Music, which also offers students a membership for only $5.99 a month! I also just started using YouTube Premium. YouTube Premium is ad-free and only $7.99 a month for students–another great advantage for students to take!

This next one is a bit more directed toward upper high school and college students. As you get further along in your education journey, you realize that you need a lot more tools and supplies to really help with the challenging years of high school or college courses. Amazon Prime offers all the advantages of Prime at half the cost for college students at just $7.49 a month or $69 per year! This can help out greatly if you’re in need of supplies or textbooks, as its products are typically cheaper and free two-day shipping can help you feel a lot more prepared.

Lastly, another great one that is only available until September 5 is IKEA’s student and teacher discount! Everything from desks to shelves and even bathroom supplies are 20% off! All you need to do is show a school ID or even a class schedule for this semester at checkout, and you’ll receive 20% off your entire purchase! This can be a great help if you’re looking for a new student space or building a reading nook with a fun seating area!

Below, I am listing all the links to these entertainment services and more. I hope this guide helps you with your school year, and I wish all the luck to everyone! Make sure to take care of yourself and know when it’s time to take a break–you got this!
