As 2022 has officially come to a close and 2023 is ramping up, many new movies, TV shows, experiences, memories, and of course, music come along with the new year. 2022 was a pretty exemplary year for music as artists such as SZA, The Weeknd, and Arctic Monkeys – to name a few – dropped new albums.

All these albums, along with several others during 2022, drew a lot of attention from both existing and new fans. Many music listeners are, therefore, ecstatic to see all of the new songs, albums, and collaborations that will be released in 2023.

While not all music artists have yet shared their plans for 2023, a handful of them have already speculated and released dates for their upcoming albums. The vast array of new music hitting listeners this year ranges from Metallica all the way to Shania Twain

Other artists such as Beyonce and A$AP Rocky have also speculated dropping albums sometime in 2023, but no specific dates have been announced just yet.

With the current list put out regarding 2023 album releases, I’ve rounded up five of these upcoming releases that I’m most excited for this year – and trust me, you’ll be excited about them too!

  1. Paramore – This Is Why

Set to release on Feb. 10, 2023, Paramore is finally back after a five-year hiatus with their sixth album. The album titled This Is Why has excited old fans of the band – including me – and will hopefully bring new fans to the rock scene as well. The lead single for the album, titled “This Is Why,” was released in September 2022, and it is likely that two more singles may be dropped before the release date in February.

  1. Gorillaz – Cracker Island

Gorillaz is back and better than ever, with their eighth studio album set to release on Feb. 24, 2023, titled Cracker Island. The album will consist of a total of ten tracks, including collaborations with Thundercat, Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Tame Impala, Bootie Brown, Bad Bunny, and Beck.

  1. Måneskin – Rush!

Italian rock band Måneskin will be releasing their third studio album, Rush!, on Jan. 20, 2023. The album will include many of their already-popular single tracks, including “Mammamia”, “Supermodel,” and “The Loneliest.” The band shared the tracklist for their album in mid-December.

  1. Lana Del Ray – “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd”

Lana Del Ray recently announced to the public that her next album is set for release  on Mar. 10, 2023. The title track for the album called, “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd,” was also recently released in anticipation of her album.

  1. Caroline Polachek – Desire, I Want to Turn Into You

Caroline Polachek is set to release her fourth studio album on Feb. 14, 2023, along with one of the tracks on the album titled “Welcome to My Island.” A few other singles released last year, including “Billions” and “Sunset,” will also be featured on her new album.
