Advice from a College Sophomore

I am a college sophomore with plenty of regrets. Throughout my first semester of college, I spent most of my time stressing about grades. While I did manage to earn a 4.0 GPA and actually accomplish my academic goals, I didn’t become a happier person because of it. I’m sad to say I have almost no fun memories of my first semester. I asked myself if I had really come to college just for a good grade, or if I wanted to learn new things and make good memories and friends, too.

During second semester I made sure I gave myself time to relax. I didn’t worry about tests and assignments as much and I tried my best to have fun while doing assignments and learn as much as I could. There were some tests on which I didn’t score as well but that didn’t bother me as much as it used to before.

As the second semester came to an end I realized that I had had a good time and got a decent GPA too. My advice to all the freshmen out there would be to study smart and save some time for yourself. Make good notes by noting down as much of the lecture as you can. Plan well and save time. Use your free time to make some precious memories–because when you leave college, you won’t think about that one test you did well. You’ll remember the memories and the skills that you will take with you.
