The 1975’s lead singer, Matty Healy, is unrecognizable in the new video for the band’s single “Give Yourself a Try.” With Healy’s typical brown, curly hair now straight and dyed a fire-engine red, the video is definitely a complete change from the band’s usual sound and aesthetic.

The first release after a year long hiatus, the new song is faced with conflicting opinions; many fans have said the song was a blatant ripoff of the riff from Joy Division’s song, “Disorder,” however, others think this statement is simply a reach.

Throughout the song, listeners come across various topics, but the underlying theme is that of the struggles Healy goes through as a millennial. In an interview with Zane Lowe, Healy and said the single reflects “a lot of anxiety–health anxiety, social anxiety, whatever it may be that my generation seems to be afflicted with.”

The song will be featured on the band’s third studio album “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships,” which is reportedly said to be released sometime in October 2018.
