When we think about sustainability, we often think about all of the big ways we can help the environment, such as recycling and using less paper or plastic. In reality, there are actually a lot of little adjustments we can make to our daily lives to help us live a more sustainable life. Read on to see how you can positively impact the environment in 2021!

  1. Turn Off the Water…

… When you’re brushing your teeth! This is a very simple thing to do, and it actually makes a lot of sense, especially since it’s super wasteful to leave the water when you’re not using it. You really only need it when you rinse your mouth.

  1. Turn Off Lights…

… When you’re not in the room! This is another very simple way to live more sustainably. If you’re leaving a room, make it a habit to turn the lights off, since there’s no point in wasting energy lighting up a room that no one is inhabiting.

  1. Invest in a Mini Heater or Fan

This is an especially practical strategy if you’re living alone. When you turn on the central air conditioner or heater, you’ll heat up or cool down the entire house, even if you’re just in one room. A mini heater or fan allows you to adjust the temperature of  whichever room you’re in, which will help you conserve energy!

  1. Bring Reusable Tote Bags to the Grocery Store

Most of us already bring reusable bags to the grocery store, but for those of you who haven’t hopped on this trend yet, 2021 is the year to make this very simple change! Not only will you use significantly less plastic or paper bags, but reusable totes are also sturdier and can carry heavier items.

  1. Sell or Donate Old Items

One of the best ways to live more sustainably is to either sell or donate your old items. If they’re still in relatively good condition, consider donating them to those in need or selling them to consignment stores or websites.

That wraps up some easy ways to live a more sustainable life this year. What are some of your favorite ways to live more sustainably?
