Happy Spooky Season! As Halloween gets closer and closer, the season’s movie marathons are among us. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I love to stay in spirit in October by watching my favorite scary films. If you need any new movies to add to your watchlist this month, or want to rewatch forgotten classics for the sake of nostalgia, you’re in the right place! Here are some of my favorite spooky season films:
- Corpse Bride (2005)
Tim Burton’s movies never fail to amaze me, but Corpse Bride is my absolute favorite project of his. From the aesthetics to the plot and the characters, this movie is a classic and is perfect for October.
- Spirited Away (2002)
Even though this movie wasn’t originally made in English, I still enjoy every second of rewatching it. It’s weird characters and eeriness makes it a great watch, and even a mind blower at times.
- Donnie Darko (2001)
Don’t get me started on how much I love this movie. The first time I watched it, I was on Google for hours trying to understand the meaning of it. If you like movies that you can dissect and form theories about, then this is your perfect October movie.
- Harry Potter (2001)
The Harry Potter series isn’t necessarily associated with Halloween, but I think it has the vibes to match the spooky season!
- Coraline (2009)
Despite it being an animated movie, Coraline never fails to scare me. This film is another mindbender, and will keep you at the edge of your seat.
