It’s finally October, and aside from an abundance of pumpkin flavored treats, cozy weekends spent curled up with a good book, and breathtaking fall foliage, one of the most exciting things about autumn is… Halloween!

Halloween may look a bit different this year in light of the current pandemic, but there are still ways we can celebrate safely while still maintaining an air of mischievous fun. Read on to see how you can celebrate carefully and mindfully!

  1. Make your own costume! While it may be enticing to just grab a costume from your local Party City, making your own costume can be fun and also gives you a lot of time to bond with your family or housemates.
  2. Have a pumpkin carving contest! No matter where you’re at, it should be relatively easy to get ahold of a pumpkin during this time of the year. Invite a group of friends to carve pumpkins together over Zoom or FaceTime for some fun competition!
  3. Host a virtual Halloween party! We may not be able to all gather in one place this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t “hang out” and have a bit of Halloween fun! By now, we’re all pretty familiar with virtual meetups, and rather than just a plain old online hangout, you can transform it into a Halloween party of sorts and have everyone in your group dress up and take turns telling scary stories!
  4. Horror movie night! Also known as one of the most classic ways to celebrate Halloween! Plus, there are great services like Netflix Party and Gaze, which allow you to watch streams and chat with friends at the same time, so it’ll feel like you’re having a traditional movie night.

Hope you all have a great Halloween! Stay safe and healthy, and don’t forget to indulge in all of the sweets that you can! Let us know how you’re going to celebrate this year!
